Mandela Day is one of the biggest calendar events for Base 5 Guard. The event has sentimental value in the heart of the Managing Director, Mr. L Moshimane after the Late President Nelson Mandela asked him to always remember where he comes from.

2019 saw Base 5 Guard, headed by the Managing Director, Mr. L Moshimane travel to Thabo Mbeki Informal Settlement in the North of Johannesburg for the 2019 Mandela Day event. Base 5 Guard donated to the disadvantaged communities in the North at God Mercy Day Care Centre, Remmogo Bunny Bee Day Care Centre, Lion Park Primary School and Thabo Mbeki Informal Settlement Grannies.
